The Pilot PWP event went off with a bang at Cronulla Leagues Club. With local and international fighters, the crowd turned up to watch some highly anticipated match ups featuring crowd favourites, Bernado Trekko, Ian Schaffa, Chris Johnson and Gaz Rees. PWP 1 ‘Into The Future’ offered K-1 and MMA style bouts in a square ring. The format was a huge success, with the crowd seeing many fast-paced, exciting bouts.
PWP 1 was a great exhibition of skill, fitness and warrior attitude, the epitome of this being the Gaz Rees vs. Chris ‘Sniper’ Johnson fight. The K-1 rules bout was the fight of the night, with non-stop action from the get go. The lucky crowd saw flying knees from Gaz, some super swinging punches from Sniper, and brutal leg kicks being traded by both fighters. Gaz won the fight with his relentless attacks, but Sniper won the crowds respect with his never say die attitude.
In the main event, Bernardo ‘Trekko’ Magalhaes took on Dennis Kelly from Melbourne, in a rematch after Trekko won the first fight. Dennis was looking to avenge this loss, and came out looking fierce and ready. Trekko kept his cool and both athletes traded for the first round. The second round picked up where the first left off, until Trekko took Dennis down, and worked himself into a dominant position, eventually getting the submission. The fight was an apt main event, and showed the crowd what slick, technical MMA should look like.
The event was a huge success, and we look forward to the next one being bigger and better. All the warriors did themselves proud!
